I bought a Wahoo KICKR SHIFT expecting to love indoor cycling, but I honestly hated it at first. It felt like I was just spinning in place, going nowhere, and the bike felt so rigid that I ended up with discomfort almost everywhere. I kept putting off rides because I just wasn’t enjoying the experience.
Everything changed once I added this rocker plate.
It completely transformed indoor riding for me. The side-to-side movement makes the bike feel much more natural, and I no longer feel locked in one position. It’s much more comfortable, and I actually look forward to riding now.
What really sets this rocker plate apart is that it doesn’t just tilt side to side. Most rocker plates only provide lean, but this one also has fore-and-aft movement. That extra movement gives the bike a sense of momentum when you accelerate, surge, or ease off the power, making it feel much more like you’re actually riding a real bike instead of pedalling a stationary trainer.
I completed my first imperial century (160 km) on the KICKR SHIFT with this setup. I genuinely don’t think I would have attempted the 160 km ride without the added comfort and realistic feel the rocker plate provides.
I still get some saddle soreness on really long rides, but it takes much longer before discomfort sets in compared to riding on a fixed trainer.
As a bonus, if you have a strong fan in front of you and sunlight streaming through the blinds while the bike moves beneath you, the whole experience becomes surprisingly immersive. Combined with the side-to-side and fore-and-aft movement, it genuinely feels much closer to riding outdoors than I ever expected.
The customer service was just as impressive as the product. I was contacted beforehand to make sure I would be home, and Mark personally delivered the rocker plate himself—on a Sunday, no less. That level of service is rare these days and was greatly appreciated.
This is genuinely one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. It completely transformed indoor cycling for me, turning something I used to avoid into something I genuinely enjoy. At this point, I wouldn’t ride indoors without it. If you’re on the fence about buying a rocker plate, I can’t recommend this one enough. For me, it’s not just an upgrade—it’s an essential part of my indoor cycling setup. An absolute must-buy.
