Race Day Wheel Hire Terms

Last updated 31 October 2026. These terms apply to every Race Day Wheel Hire booking made through paragon.bike.

The short version.

Disc brake wheels only. You supply your own cassette and brake rotors and fit them yourself, or have your bike shop do it. Wheels are for triathlon, Ironman and time trial events in Australia. Pay when you book. Return freight is on us: email us, we book a pickup from your address and send you the consignment label. If you buy the wheels you hired, we credit the full hire fee.

The full terms below are what you agree to. Please read them.

1. Who we are

  1. 1.1In these terms, we, us and our mean Mark John Cordingley, ABN 81 317 609 256, trading as Paragon Industri³, PO Box 13, Beverly Hills NSW 2209, Australia. You means the person who books the hire (the Hirer). If the Hirer is under 18, it includes the parent or guardian who makes the booking and accepts these terms.
  2. 1.2Equipment means the wheels, tyres, tubes, valves, skewers or axle adaptors and anything else we supply with them.
  3. 1.3Our contact details are ridewell@paragon.bike. Any notice we give you is sent to the email address you provide when booking.

2. Eligibility and use

  1. 2.1Hire is available for triathlon, Ironman and time trial events in Australia only. Mass start events, including road races, criteriums, gran fondos, group rides and bunch racing, are not permitted.
  2. 2.2The Equipment is for your personal use only. You may not lend, sub-hire, sell or part with possession of it.
  3. 2.3You must be at least 18 to book. A rider under 18 may use the Equipment only if a parent or guardian books and accepts these terms.
  4. 2.4The Equipment must not be taken outside Australia.
  5. 2.5You must be a competent rider and understand how deep section and disc wheels handle. See section 12.

3. Compatibility, your responsibility

We only hire disc brake wheels. We do not fit cassettes, brake pads or rotors.

  1. 3.1The wheels are disc brake only. They will not work on a rim brake bike, and rim brake hire is not offered.
  2. 3.2You supply your own cassette and brake rotors. You, or your bike shop, must fit them to the wheels and set up your brakes and gears before the event. We do not fit, adjust or index cassettes, rotors, pads, brakes or gears, and we do not charge a fitting fee because we do not offer one.
  3. 3.3When you book you tell us your brake type, drivetrain and axle standard. It is your responsibility to check that the wheels fit your frame, fork and drivetrain, including freehub body, axle standard, rotor mount, tyre clearance and cassette compatibility. We will answer fitment questions on request but we do not guarantee compatibility with every bike.
  4. 3.4You must use the freehub body and tyre type supplied with the wheels, and you must not modify the Equipment, including cutting, drilling, sanding, painting or changing the rim or hubs.
  5. 3.5If the wheels arrive in a condition that prevents you fitting your own parts, tell us before the hire start date and we will sort it out with you.

4. Booking and availability

  1. 4.1Bookings are made on our website. Our fleet is limited, and availability shown on the booking page is live. Wheels that are booked for your dates cannot be selected.
  2. 4.2The Equipment is allocated to your dates when your order is placed. We do not reserve wheels in advance of an order, so between selecting a set and completing checkout those wheels remain available to others. If your order is placed and paid for, the wheels are yours for the dates ordered.
  3. 4.3A booking is confirmed when payment clears. We confirm your dates by email, normally the same day and always within 24 hours.
  4. 4.4If we cannot supply the Equipment you booked, for example because it is damaged or not returned in time by a previous hirer, we will offer a substitute of equal or better value, or refund you in full. This is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
  5. 4.5You may select up to two wheel options per booking. If your hire runs longer than two weeks, section 5 applies.

5. Prices and payment

  1. 5.1Prices are in Australian dollars and include GST unless stated otherwise.
  2. 5.2The hire fee shown for each option covers a hire period of up to two weeks. For each additional week beyond two weeks, we charge 25% of the base hire fee for each wheel option, up to a maximum hire period of eight weeks. The total shown at checkout is the full amount you pay.
  3. 5.3You pay the full hire fee when you book. We do not take a separate bond or deposit at checkout.
  4. 5.4By booking you authorise us to charge the payment method you used at checkout for any amount you owe under these terms, including late return fees (section 7) and loss or damage charges (section 9). We will tell you the amount and give you the reason before we charge it.
  5. 5.5Prices on the website at the time you book apply to your booking. We may change prices for future bookings at any time. A change will not affect a booking we have already confirmed.
  6. 5.6Outbound freight, if you ask us to send the wheels to you, is quoted and charged separately. Collection in Sydney is by appointment. Return freight is covered by us: we book the pickup and send you the consignment label.

6. Buying the wheels: the hire fee credit

  1. 6.1If you buy a Paragon wheelset within 30 days after your hire ends, we credit the full hire fee you paid against the purchase price. The credit applies once, to one wheelset, and we apply it to your order at your request.
  2. 6.2The credit does not apply to freight, extension weeks you chose not to pay for, or any charge for loss, damage or late return.
  3. 6.3The credit has no cash value, cannot be transferred and cannot be combined with another credit or discount unless we agree in writing.

7. Collection, return and late return

  1. 7.1Your hire runs from the start date to the end date shown on your booking. Collection is at our premises by appointment in Sydney, or you can ask us to freight the wheels to you at your cost.
  2. 7.2You must show photo ID at collection. We may refuse to release the Equipment if you cannot.
  3. 7.3Returning the wheels. Email us at info@paragon.bike when you are finished, no more than three days after your event, and tell us the address to collect from. We book the pickup from your location and email you the consignment label. The return shipping fee is covered by us. You do not pay for the return freight.
  4. 7.4You must keep the packaging the wheels arrived in, pack them the same way, and have them ready for the courier on the day the pickup is booked.
  5. 7.5Late returns. If you have not booked the return within three days after your event, the late return rate applies from the third day until the wheels are booked in for pickup and collected. The late return rate is the weekly rate for that option divided by seven, for each day or part day.
  6. 7.6You must remove your cassette and rotors before you return the wheels, or arrange with us to do it, and the wheels must go back clean and complete apart from reasonable wear and tear.
  7. 7.7If the Equipment is not returned within 30 days after the end date, and you have not contacted us, we may treat it as lost and charge the replacement cost in section 9.
  8. 7.8You may ask to extend your hire. We will agree if the Equipment is not booked by someone else, and the extension rates in section 5.2 apply.

8. Cancellations and changes

  1. 8.1If you cancel more than 7 days before your hire start date, we refund the hire fee in full.
  2. 8.2If you cancel within 7 days of your hire start date, we keep 30% of the hire fee and refund the remaining 70%.
  3. 8.3If your event is cancelled or postponed by the organiser, we will move your booking to the new dates if the Equipment is available, or refund you in full. Please send us the organiser's notice.
  4. 8.4If we cancel your booking for any reason other than your breach of these terms, we refund you in full.
  5. 8.5To change dates, tell us as early as you can. We will move you if the Equipment is available for the new dates.
  6. 8.6Refunds are paid to the original payment method within 10 business days.

9. Care, loss and damage

  1. 9.1Risk in the Equipment passes to you on collection, or on delivery if we freight it. You are responsible for it until we receive it back.
  2. 9.2You must take reasonable care of the Equipment. You must store it indoors or in a locked vehicle, keep it away from heat, and not leave it unattended in public view. You must not ride it in conditions it is not designed for, and you must not use it for training on rough surfaces, off-road, on trainers with abrasive rollers, or in any way not described in these terms.
  3. 9.3Carbon rims are sensitive to heat. You must use brakes sensibly, avoid long continuous braking and keep tyre pressures within the limits we give you.
  4. 9.4You must report any crash, damage, theft or loss to us within 24 hours.
  5. 9.5You are responsible for loss of or damage to the Equipment beyond fair wear and tear while it is in your possession or risk. We will charge the reasonable cost of repair, or the replacement cost (up to the current retail price) if it cannot be repaired. We will inspect the Equipment on return and tell you the amount and reason before charging you.
  6. 9.6Punctured or damaged tyres, tubes and valves are charged at the replacement cost of those parts.
  7. 9.7You are responsible for damage caused to the Equipment by incorrectly fitted cassettes, rotors or brake components that you or your bike shop supplied or fitted.
  8. 9.8Our records, photographs and inspection of the Equipment before it leaves us and when it returns are evidence of its condition.

10. Australian Consumer Law

  1. 10.1Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any guarantee that cannot lawfully be excluded.
  2. 10.2To the extent the law allows us to limit our liability for a failure to comply with a consumer guarantee, our liability is limited, at our choice, to supplying the Equipment or service again, or paying the cost of having it supplied again, or refunding the hire fee.
  3. 10.3The Equipment is supplied as described on our website. Subject to section 10.1, we give no other warranty about its performance on your course, your bike or your race.

11. Liability

  1. 11.1Subject to section 10, we are not liable for any loss or damage you suffer because you chose the wrong equipment, used it for a purpose outside these terms or its specifications, or did not set up your bike correctly.
  2. 11.2Subject to section 10, we are not liable for any loss or damage caused by your negligence, or the negligence of anyone acting for you, or for indirect or consequential loss, including race entry fees, travel costs, accommodation or loss of a result or prize.
  3. 11.3You indemnify us against any claim by a third party for injury, loss or damage caused wholly or partly by your negligent act or omission or your breach of these terms.
  4. 11.4Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.

12. Risk acknowledgement

  1. 12.1You understand that cycling, triathlon and time trialling are inherently dangerous, with real risk of injury, including serious injury.
  2. 12.2You understand that deep section and disc wheels change how a bike handles, especially in crosswinds and gusts, and when descending or cornering. You are experienced enough to ride them, you will choose depth and combination to suit your ability, the course and the forecast, and you accept the risks of using them.
  3. 12.3You confirm that you are fit and well to ride, that you have given us true information, and that you have had the chance to inspect the Equipment and ask questions before accepting it.
  4. 12.4You use the Equipment at your own risk, subject to your rights under section 10.

13. Privacy

  1. 13.1We collect your name, address, phone, email, event details and photo ID details so we can take your booking, confirm your identity, contact you and recover the Equipment. We use your information for those purposes only and handle it under our Privacy Policy.

14. General

  1. 14.1These terms, your booking confirmation and the information on our website are the entire agreement between us for the hire. If there is any inconsistency, the booking confirmation prevails.
  2. 14.2We may update these terms. The terms in force at the time of your booking apply to that booking.
  3. 14.3If a provision is unenforceable, the rest of these terms continue to apply.
  4. 14.4Our failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of it.
  5. 14.5These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Both parties submit to the courts of New South Wales.

15. Acceptance

By ticking the box at checkout and paying the hire fee, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these terms, that you will supply and fit your own cassette and brake rotors, and that the details you gave us are true.
